ATMs
I use Piraeus Bank, which is a major bank in Greece. You can use your European or American debit card to withdraw Euros, which is the local currency. There is a Piraeus Bank ATM right in the Chania Airport near the baggage claim, as well both in Vamos and Kalyves.
Grocery Stores
Pripis Market (Kalyves) A small grocery in Kalyves, small but convenient.
Sklavenitis (Chania- Inner City) The best option for a full grocery store. You can park in the adjacent public parking garage and this store will stamp your receipt for a discount off of your parking. Should you choose this option it should be in conjunction with a visit to the Venetian Harbor and/or Old Town.
Lidl (Chania) The same full grocery store hailing from Germany. It’s a great option when you are leaving Chania, as it is on the road heading to E90.
Beverage Store
KABA (Kalyves) The is a good beverage store to purchase water or beer by the case, as well as bottles of wine. As you exit E90 to drive into Kalyves on your way to Douliana, it’s on the right side of the road just past the pool store. The pool store has a large white sign that says “Piscines Ideales”.
Computer & Cell Phone Accessories
VIRUS (Kalyves) A little computer store with some basic peripherals and cell phone accessories.
Public (Chania) A larger computer store in downtown Chania that has almost everything you might need.
Kotsovolos- Κωτσόβολος (Chania) A large electronics store with computers and appliances, one block away from Public on the same street.
Cosmote (Chania) This is a Greek cellular provider, you may purchase a SIM card or a cell phone here,
Pharmacies
Pharmacy- Φαρμακείο (Kalyves) A small pharmacy on the corner near the Pripis Market.
Medical Clinics
Hospital & 24 Hour Clinics
Vamos Health Centre (Vamos) A nearby 24-hour hospital clinic for minor emergencies. It’s very close to Douliana.
General Hospital St. George- Γενικό Νομαρχιακό Νοσοκομείο Μουρνιών Άγιος Γεώργιος (Chania) This is the closest large hospital.
